Summer Festival Workshops

Here are the exciting offerings of our last festival:

1          Sailing

PMYC12Begin with shore side instructions on the principles of sailing and safety. Learn to tie knots for rigging boats and participate in on-water demonstrations and drills by experienced sailors.  Then practice basic skills in handling a boat under sail with an instructor. Lunch will be provided. Club membership is included in the fee.

2          Baking Artisan Bread at Home

Artesian Bread ClassA hands-on bread class where students learn principles of bread baking as well as techniques and tips enabling them to make French boules and baguettes at home. Discussion and demonstration of other types of bread will also be included in the class.

11       Art Pottery: Tile Making

Art Tile 1Create decorative art tiles using slip trailing techniques. Then, learn a stain and fill glaze technique.  This gives our finished tiles a depth and gloss similar to enameling.

45       Kids In The Park – Junior Ranger Day

Family groups with children 12 and under are invited to come join in the fun as we explore, learn, and discover how to protect Acadia National Park. Explore the forest on a salamander hunt, learn about woodland, wetland, and marine animals, and try your hand as an NPS firefighter. Enjoy art activities and games! Learn about scientific studies going on in the area, test your skills at the Leave No Trace challenge course, and strut your stuff as you compete in the Animal Olympics.
