Twisted Path IV: Vital Signs

April through December 2017

The critically acclaimed Twisted Path exhibit series is back and celebrating its fourth year in 2017. Twisted Path IV: Vital Signs is an invitational exhibition that features artwork that reflects personal stories about tribal identity and balancing life in a complex world.

Participating artists were chosen based on the aesthetics of their work, their ability and willingness to tell stories through art, and the unique and contemporary natures of their forms. The list includes Jason K. Brown (Penobscot), Donna Brown (Penobscot), David Moses Bridges (Passamaquoddy), Chris Pappan (Kaw, Osage, Cheyenne River Sioux), and Hollis Chitto (Laguna/Isleta, Mississippi Choctaw).

Lunch together at the Side Street Cafe,  http://www.sidestreetbarharbor.com/

and visit the Wendell Gilley Museum for the afternoon.

AN ABUNDANCE OF RICHES

ON EXHBIT JULY 1 – OCTOBER 21, 2017

Explore the worlds of art and nature through Andrea Rich’s intricately designed, carved, and printed woodcuts. An internationally recognized artist, Rich has traveled worldwide to portray the beauty of birds and animals in their habitats through her work.

Using a centuries-old medium that requires a carved wood panel for each layer of color needed to develop the composition, Andrea Rich creates detailed prints. These panels are painstakingly aligned one atop another sequentially and pulled through a printing press to create the final piece. Read more about her work and Wendell Gilley’s on our exhibits page.
