Solo and Duo: music for Piano and Flute

Gouldsboro’s own resident Classical Duo, with Deiran Manning, pianist and his mother, Deirdre McArdle, flutist, will play a program including solo works for the piano and sonatas for both instruments. Deiran and his mom love to talk about the pieces they play and welcome comments and questions from the audience too. Take a break from the hectic holiday season and spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon with them at Hammond Hall.

In addition to his professional career as a pianist, Deiran Manning is the Managing Director of the Winter Harbor Music Festival which was founded in 2009 by Deirdre McArdle, his mother and the Executive Director. This Chamber Music festival takes place annually during the third week in August and brings together college students and adult amateur and semi-professional musicians from Maine, New York, Indiana and even overseas to work with a world class faculty in ‘side-by-side’ performance. What this means is that every ensemble has at least one professional musician in the group enabling the opportunity for coaching from within which is unique to the Winter Harbor Music Festival. Currently, due to the generosity of our community supporters, we provide full scholarship to all Maine students and would like to expand this program so that all college students attend for free. Visit us on the web at http://www.winterharbormusicfestival.com/ for information on our concerts August 17th and 19th and the Winter Harbor Music Festival Summer Sing, on the 18th, which will feature Lisa Blanchette in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury.
