This guitar, an incredible gift, is valued at $5000. The opening bid will be $2500 and our Silent Auction will take place on Sunday, July 29th, from 1-4pm!

From luthier and donor, Thomas Bazzolo:

“Although I have been known primarily for building nylon string classical guitars, I have always built flat top steel string guitars. My steel string guitars, including the one for Schoodic Arts, are somewhat out of the mainstream. They exhibit a clear influence from my training as a classical builder. Classical esthetics include, a neck with 12 frets clear to the body and a slotted peghead. As such, they appeal to classical guitarists seeking to “crossover” to a steel string instrument and to finger style guitarists looking for an instrument designed from inception to be played without a guitar pick. Hence the absence of a pickguard on this guitar.

This guitar would offer a guitarist who plays with their fingers a slightly wider neck, low action, and a responsive guitar designed for light gauge strings. For the player, this translates to an instrument with a rich, clear, balanced voice and a broad tonal palate that is easy to play. This instrument has been well received by my clients.

Although the guitar pictured is not the same instrument, the specifications for the Schoodic guitar can be found on my website here.

The wood I used to build the top on this guitar came from northern Maine!”
