Participants will craft a realistically painted wooden silhouette of the amazing Red Knot. This shore bird migrates between its arctic nesting sites and feeding grounds in Tierra del Fuego and back each year, nearly 20,000 miles annually. The process of making the birds will include use of reference materials, shaping with carving knives and sandpaper, creating details with wood burners, and layering paint.
