Biss/Saeverud Duo:  An evening of French Music

French masterworks for violin and piano, including works by Debussy, Ravel, and Chausson.

Pianist Gregory Biss and violinist Trond Saeverud present a program of all-time favorites for violin and piano, including Ravel’s dramatic Tzigane, Chausson’s gorgeous Poeme – and Debussy’s groundbreaking sonata.  An evening of French fragrances, passions and magic.

Violinist Trond Saeverud and pianist Gregory Biss have performed together since 2006; most often as a duo, but also in combination with visiting summer colleagues from New York and elsewhere.  Their concerts have included several premieres and revivals of obscure works that deserve attention – one of them to be presented tonight.  The August 12 recital focuses mostly on all time French favorites for violin and piano – including some of the most beloved pieces on the violin repertory.

Gregory combines concertizing as a pianist, composing new works, serving as President of the Eastport Art Center – with teaching at Summerkeys in Lubec and conducting and arranging for the Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra and its related ensembles.

Trond is currently conductor of the Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra, Maine and the Galveston Symphony and Bay Area Symphony in Texas. He also co-runs a chamber music series in Galveston Texas – and performs as soloist with those organizations and elsewhere.
