On large watercolor paper, you’ll paint, draw, stamp, fold and cut to make a small one-of-a-kind book full of personal expression and creativity.
Materials: A large piece of heavy drawing paper or watercolor paper (14”x20”, 18”x24” are good sizes.) A sheet of white poster paper (22”x28”), which can be bought locally, will also work. You’ll also need two small pieces of cardboard (around 6”x8” is fine-we’ll be cutting them to our book’s size.) The cardboard backing of a sketchbook or drawing tablet works well. Also needed: scissors, ruler, exacto knife, masking tape (1” or 2” wide will work). AND a range of art materials, such as: watercolor and acrylic paints, colored pencils, oil pastels, markers, permanent black fine-tip ink pens (Sharpies are fine…a gold pen is also nice), collage papers & scraps and Elmer’s glue (or Mod Podge), rubber stamps and letters…
All these materials are not necessary to have – the main thing is to have a variety so you can have fun exploring on the paper that will become the pages of your book. In the first video lesson of this two-part workshop, I will also be showing you how to create some additional materials that will add to your supply.
