We’ll take a deep dive into the golden rule of writing poetry—“show don’t tell”—by contemplating the rich sensory details of family photographs and artworks. Then tap into their evocative stories by practicing “fever writing” or “automatic writing,” which we will share in class as jumping-off points for generating a new poem.  Each participant should bring a favorite family photograph (print or digital) and/or and photo of a favorite artwork, which holds some personal mystique, imaginative interest, and emotional complexity. Open to writers at any skill level, as well as anyone who simply wants to explore the art of poetry.
