This workshop will be held on the Zoom platform. We will send you a Zoom for Beginners information sheet when you register.
Students should have access to a computer/device with a camera and microphone and good internet service.
We will be hosting a Virtual Festival Kick-Off Party where you are welcome to learn the platform and meet other participants.
We will be making fairies, starting with old fashion wooden clothespins, dressing them in lace and adorning them with natural found objects and possibly an old earring for magic.
Ages: 10 and up (able to handle a glue gun safely)
Materials Kit Available from Instructor : $5 per kit
Materials that Students Should Bring:
Glue gun & glue sticks
One or two old fashioned round clothes pins
Short piece of wire for arms or pipe cleaner
Embroidery floss to wrap arms
Fine marker to draw the face
Several pieces of lace or cloth for clothes
Starched lace or decorative paper for wings
Miscellaneous pieces of ribbon
Carded wool or other material for hair
Natural found objects for adorning our fairy
Perhaps an old earing that lost its match to add magic
Students should be able to use a glue gun proficiently. Working with these tiny objects takes a bit of skill, or an extra hand to help. To save time, the clothes pins should be painted whatever color you would like the skin tone to be. I usually paint the bottom half of the legs a different color to symbolize stockings. We will begin the workshop from this point.
Clothes pins are available online from many sources. I like to use the ones with pointed feet and unvarnished.
