Puppetry in Performance
The heart of puppetry is bringing an inanimate object to “life”. We will use found objects to discover how to bring the object/puppet to life through breath, movement, gaze and non-verbal storytelling. No previous fine art/performance experience necessary.

Bring List: A small branch (that "speaks to you"), between 12" and 36" in approximate length -thinner the better, so its light enough for one hand to hold it/manipulate it

Circus and Excitement
Circus is attention. Circus is patience. Circus is creation and patterns and looseness and showing off and supporting partners and silliness and serious fun! Participants learn the basics in several varieties of arts including: juggling, balancing objects, spinning diabolos and plates, etc. The class reduces the arts to their essential components: props, bodies, gravity, resistance, audience, etc. We will focus on techniques, experimentation, interactive performance, and (most importantly) messing up spectacularly!

Not all sea songs are sea shanties! We will compare and contrast the work songs with the "forebitters." Some hands-on block & tackle included.
