Get on the pottery wheel for a beginner lesson or guided practice. The basics of throwing, trimming and community studio cleanup systems in our quirky but loveable Combs will be our focus for this 4 week session.

Success in this class will qualify as your prerequisite for future open studio access.

Sgraffito is the art of etching on clay and is thought by many to be our first written language. In this fun and fast-paced workshop, participants will create their own sgraffito decorated tile and cup, carving gorgeous designs into the surface of provided forms and tiles.

Pottery Open Studio with Tim Christensen

  • This class is designed to help students complete self directed projects.  You might work on more advanced skills, which may include throwing, glaze making, kiln or studio maintenance, or raku firing.  In this fun and guided open studio class, potters may bring their own project ideas. Tim Christensen will provide individual attention, coming up with a plan for a successful and fun studio experience.

  • No experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome.

  • Students may attend 4 sessions within the six week schedule.

  • Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm

  • January 17th - Feb 21st

Start at the beginning or refine your skills in this 12 hour course.

Beginning with color mixing and complimentary colors, we will go on to practice our painting skills in the form of several small studies of each topic. Then using the proficiencies acquired we will make a finished painting or two using seascapes as a focus.

Pottery Wheel Basics 9/9/23 -9/30/23

We will cover the basics of beginner pottery wheel, from Wedging to Glazing and all of the magical steps in between.

A beginner pottery wheel throwing class is a great introduction to the art of pottery-making for individuals who are new to working with clay. In this class, students will learn the basic techniques of throwing pottery on a wheel, including how to center the clay, how to create different shapes and forms, trimming and glazing.  

During the class, students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Anna Woolf, an experienced pottery instructor, who will provide individualized guidance and instruction. She will demonstrate the various techniques and help students practice and develop their skills on the pottery wheel.

This class meets for 4 weeks/ 2 hours per week and is designed for beginner students, so no prior experience with pottery is necessary.
